I'm licensed in California as both a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I've worked in a wide variety of mental health, psychiatric, and social service settings for forty years, with extensive experience both in direct clinical practice as well as in management, administration, and operations. I specialize in substance use treatment, trauma recovery, and pain management, and have worked extensively with both active-duty and retired military and their families. I also treat depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders, as well as anger and impulse control problems
In addition to my expertise in providing psychotherapy for a broad range of emotional, family, and behavioral issues, I work as a clinical supervisor and training therapist for several clinical programs, and have been a field instructor for social work and marriage and family therapy graduate study programs at four area universities. I'm also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California School of Social Work, supervising graduate students and teaching foundation, advanced, and field coursework.
Along with my private practice office in Carlsbad, providing psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals and families, I provide administrative and business operations consulting to healthcare facilities and companies. I have a specific interest in professional and clinical social work ethics, and have served with two state-wide bodies in monitoring and enforcing professional standards. My consulting contracts have included clinical operations, program design and implementation, business development and marketing, personnel management, team building, executive coaching, and quality improvement systems.
